Whitetop Presbyterian Church

1830 Old Park Rd Whitetop, VA 24292-2415
Sunday Schedule:
9:15am Sunday School

10:00am Worship
Directions

The youth went Christmas caroling on December 22, 2016 to area homes singing for shut-ins and the sick as well as elderly members of the church. We had a nativity play and Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve which made it even more special celebration of Jesus birth. We contribute to Encounter Generation led by David Gilliam, their missionary to the Philippines. We also contribute to a mission in Mexico. Also, we have a pamphlet advertising our church as a camping spot for groups. With the head of the Virginia Creeper trail nearby and the Creeper Trail zip line just across the street, it is a wonderful spot for youth groups or boy or girl scout groups in the late spring, summer, and early fall months.

Tazewell Presbyterian Church and Blacks Chapel

201 Church St, Tazewell, VA 24651
Sunday Schedule:

9:00 a.m. Black’s Chapel
11:00 a.m. Town Church
Directions

In December, the Presbytery installed Reverend Dr. David E. Gilbert as pastor (pictured above with his wife Lynn).
We support three missionary families all of whom visited us in 2016, to present updates on their mission work. From September through June we offer a once per month out-reach program of music or community interest and a meal for senior citizens and guests, serving 80 to 100 guests and shut inns. We have both a Festival of Hymns and a Christmas Cantata in conjunction with Southwest Community College Music Department. Recently, our Sunday Night Live Bible Study with Dr. Don Michael Hudson, head of the King University Department of Religion and Philosophy, and potluck dinner was well-attended with guests from community churches. Our members provide generous support for the Angel Tree Project in our community, providing Christmas gifts for children of incarcerated parents. The local food pantry, A Child Shall Lead Them, was originally envisioned and organized by youth from this church and continues to be faith we supported by our members.
